What is NSQF

It's a framework developed by the Government of India to organize and standardize the skill development initiatives across the country. The main objective of NSQF is to align various educational programs and vocational training to a nationally recognized framework that helps in:

  1. Quality Assurance: Ensuring that the quality of vocational education and training meets specified standards.

  2. Mobility: Facilitating mobility between different levels of education and vocational training by establishing equivalences between different qualifications.

  3. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): Providing recognition and certification for skills acquired through informal means or prior work experience.

  4. Industry Alignment: Aligning the skill development programs with industry requirements to make the workforce more job-ready and relevant.

The NSQF organizes qualifications into levels, ranging from Level 1 (basic skills) to Level 10 (doctoral-level qualifications). Each level corresponds to a set of learning outcomes that a learner is expected to possess after completing a particular qualification.

By implementing NSQF, India aims to standardize and improve the quality of vocational education and training, making it more responsive to the needs of the industry and the job market.
